development timeline

I understand this may be a difficult question to answer, but I'm curious to know what kind of timeframe you have with regard to going from this beta to a 1.0 release. I find I'm using Pukanea more and more and would love to know more about future releases, if, of course, any information about this can be shared here at all.

I agree. And I have a

I agree. And I have a feeling, a large number of potentially interested people do feel the same way about a software that will have a HUGE impact on one of the most important aspects of your computer use: the file management. Nobody wants to screw around with that. So having some sort of idea as to how to go along with the transition of your own file management would be most welcome. It took me a while to gain enough entrust some actual working files that I need for my work to Punakea...

We have thought of a lot of

We have thought of a lot of stuff to include in future releases. Some of it have been user ideas - for which we are very grateful, some of it are things we had planned right in the beginning but didn't yet find the time to do. So we won't go into all the details here, but you can expect our developement to roughly follow this roadmap:

Next minor release

  • Clickable sidebar tags
  • Menu bar status item
  • Adjust how the tag size is calculated

Next steps

  • new folder structure in the managed files area, which serves two purposes: you can access your tags better using the finder, and you have a backup if the spotlight comments get lost
  • tag groups
  • choose if files are managed "on the fly"
  • major browser interface enhancements

Naturally there is a lot more, but as we are currently preparing for our final exams, time is quite limited, so we really hope all of you can understand our recent slow development pace.

In the hope that your curiousity has been satisfied a bit ;)

That sounds absolutely

That sounds absolutely wonderful!! With regards to next steps, will that be before or after Leopard?

Thx, that's very helpful.

Thanks jkr :)

@macsterdam: as nobody really knows when Leopard will be released, I must say we simply don't know ;)
