This article
recommends that tags stored in Spotlight Comments be preceded with "&" to facilitate searching. I've been doing this for quite a while and it seems to work.
It would be nice if punakea would let the user specify an arbitrary string that would be prepended to any tags entered.

Oops, I guess the BBS doesn't like things enclosed in angle brackets. Here's the article:

This has been requested a lot and is in the pipeline for the next release. No idea when we will find the time to finish it, though ;)
This is probably the most
This is probably the most important feature of them all.
Punakea is a marvelously simple tool for managing the tags.
So, in the perfect world, Punakea will be user-configurable, and will allow ANY prefix, postfix and delimeter, or maybe even multiple combinations of those.
Right now I have a file with Spotlight comments that look like this:
"todo ###begin_tags###@boss;###end_tags### &nose"
Clearly, there are tags that came from three different systems here.
I should be able to tell Punakea in its preferences to:
1) treat ANY separate word in Spotlight comments as a tag [checkbox], with the exception of [user-configurable list of things like "the, of, to"], with delimeters [user-configurable list]
2) use only terms between {expression A} and {expression B} [currently "###begin_tags### with (optional) tag prefix {C} (right now it is "@") and optional delimeter {D} (right now it is ";")
3) Insert NEW tags with user-defined delimeters, prefixes, etc.
Case (2) is probably the more general one, and it should be possible to have several of those.
If this is done, Punakea will be instantly compatible with virtually every tagging application!!!
Come on, I know you cannot resist the temptation!
Yea, this is the only thing
Yea, this is the only thing stopping me from using Punakea full time (I've been tagging my files for a long time using the & prefix). I really want to use it more, but I'm not prepared to abandon my usual tagging method & start afresh with Punakea's way.
Leap handles 2 word tags nicely. For example a 'recent invoice' tag is actually '&"recent invoice"' in Spotlight comments (You type in 'recent_invoice' in Leap & shows it as a 2 word tag without the underscore).
Oh man, that would be great!
Oh man, that would be great! It is just the thing I'm waiting for to fully use Punakea!!
I think the first version of this feature doesn't need to be so complete: you can convert tags to de facto pattern: &tag-name-separated-by-hyphens &and-delimited-by-spaces. It's a huge improvement, "integrating" Punakea with Finder and a lot of apps (like Quicksilver). Any idea of when this will be available?
