Hello,
What happen if I decide to put all my files in one folder and then, for some reason, I need to reinstall my OS? Do I need to backup my tags? If so, how can I do it?
My point is I need to be sure I can flat my files organization without the risk of mixing all my data in a single place and loosing my tags when I need to clean up my mac.
Thank you in advance.
PD I've just purchased a License :)

Hi, when you tag a file
Hi,
when you tag a file using Punakea, the tag is written to the file's extended attributes using OpenMeta (see also our FAQ).
Thus, if you want to backup your tags, the ony thing you need to make sure is that extended attributes are also backed up - and because extended attributes are a standard feature of OS X since a few years, all modern backup apps support this - including of course Time Machine.
So if you back up your files, your tags will also be safe - Time Machine also backs up the Punakea settings, including the tag database.
If something happens to the Punakea settings, the Punakea tag database can be restored directly from the files using the 'Tools->Rebuild Tag Database' functionality.
So, I hope you feel sae now, have fun with Punakea and thanks for purchasing!
Cheers
Johannes
