To manage or not?

Hi there

Do other Punakea users move tagged files to a managed folder or not?

I'm curious what others do here. I'm a little reluctant to do so as I find a loose folder-based structure quite useful, but am wondering about the relative merits of moving tagged files to a managed folder.

Thanks

Moving files to a managed

Moving files to a managed folder is SO close to being an awesome feature.

So close.

I would use if I were able to pick multiple folders. The idea would be to allow users to specify rules like Manage the contents of my Documents folder, and have Punakea move files there only when they are Documents.

On second thought…I do have some manually created content in those folders, so I might want to put a Punakea folder under ~/Documents. That way, I could manually create the stuff I want under ~/Documents and let Punakea manage everything under ~/Documents/Punakea without jeopardizing my manually-organized items.

…

I keep using “Documents” as the example, but the same goes for ~/Movies and ~/Pictures, too. And potentially others—if I were able to try this out, I might think of more places to use it.

An off-the-cuff example might be the following:

…

  1. Manage all files with the following criteria…
    • [ Choose file extensions… ]
    • [ Choose tags… ]
    • [ Choose Spotlight Comments… ]
    • [ Choose Finder Labels… ] (wow, Labels could actually be useful!)
    • [ Choose other… ]
  2. …in the following Folder [ Choose… ]

…

In summary

If a little control were provided over where and how Punakea managed files, it would be all kinds of awesome. :)
